The poet, philologist, translator and active and award-winning cultural manager with almost thirty years of professional experience, who has worked in television, has received numerous awards, among the most recent are also the Premio de la Cultura Gallega de las Letras, the "Gallega del Año 2023" and the Premio Ramón Piñeiro de Ensayo, She has her own Residence for Writers in A Coruña and since 2009 she has been directing poetry translation workshops, festivals and monthly poetry cycles. Her work has appeared in numerous magazines, collective books and anthologies, as well as in numerous meetings and festivals in more than forty countries in Europe, America, Africa and Asia, and has been translated in part into more than 30 languages.

The mayor of Lalín, José Crespo Iglesias, has just announced the name of Yolanda Castaño, who will be the town crier of the LVI Feria del Cocido: the winner of the National Poetry Prize 2023. Born in Santiago de Compostela (1977), she is a poet, philologist, translator, video-creator and an active and award-winning cultural manager with her own Residence for Writers in A Coruña. This year she also won the Galician Culture of Letters Award, the "Gallega del Año 2023" and the Ramón Piñeiro Essay Award 2023.

Since 2009 she has been directing poetry translation workshops, festivals and monthly poetry cycles, always with Galician and international authors.

She has won the National Critics' Prize twice (1998 and 2022), the Gusanillo Mayor Prize 2007, the Ojo Crítico Prize 2009, the Novacaixagalicia Foundation Prize, the Hermandad del Libro "Author of the Year" Prize 2014, the González-Garcés Prize, the "Gallega del Año 2023" and the Galician Culture Prize, as well as the National Poetry Prize, among others.

She has seven individual poetry books, bilingual editions (Galician-Spanish) for the rest of Spain and Latin America, books published in English, French, Catalan, Italian, Serbian, Macedonian, Slovenian and Armenian, plaquettes published in German, French, Croatian, Macedonian, Greek and Chinese, several anthologies - with music, bilingual, in poetic comic. ...- and seven books of children's poetry, as well as other works published as an editor, biographer or translator of contemporary poets.

She worked for years in TV (Master Mateo Award from the Galician Audiovisual Academy) and received grants as Writer in Residence in Ruedas (Greece), Munich, Beijing, Scotland, Andalusia, Finland, California and Turkey.

With almost 30 years of professional experience in poetry, she develops experiences that fuse writing with plastic arts, music, performance, architecture, dance, audiovisual, comics, 360º cinema or even cooking, either alone or in collaboration with other artists.

Her work has appeared in numerous magazines, collective books and anthologies, as well as in numerous meetings and festivals in more than forty countries in Europe, America, Africa and Asia, and has been translated in part into more than 30 languages. His latest collection of poems is Materia (Premio de la Crítica Española 2022 and Premio Nacional de Poesía 2023), while the most recent one aimed at young people is "Paleta Planeta" (Bahía, 2021).
