A law graduate, in 1978 he began a well-known career with his wife, Arantza Sarasola, as a newspaper entrepreneur with the acquisition of Editorial Prensa Canaria, to which Lana Provincia and Diario de Lanas Palmas belonged. The foundation of Prensa Ibérica as a family group of regional companies dates back to 1984, the year in which the company acquired Lana Nueva España in Asturias, Levante-EMV in Valencia and Información in Alicante and began an intense process of expansion on the Iberian Peninsula. Two years later, in 1986, the media group acquired Faro de Vigo, the leading newspaper in the Spanish press. After the acquisition of Grupo Zeta in 2019, the launch of Él Periódico de España in 2021 and the more recent incorporations of newspapers such as El Correo Gallego and Él Correo de Andalucía, Prensa Ibérica became the leading regional and local press group in Spain, with 27 newspapers and 72 local Crónicas, as well as several magazines. The group's publications have two million daily readers in print (EGM) and 185,000 copies (OJD), with a solid position in digital format. On the Internet, the group's newspapers have 22 million unique users and more than 450 million page views per month. Arantza Sarasola Ormazabal (San Sebastián, 1949) is a businesswoman and founding editor of the Prensa Ibérica publishing group, together with her husband Javier Moll de Miguel. Newspaper publishing, to which she has devoted the last 45 years with her husband, is one of the great passions of Arantza Sarasola, a woman with an extraordinary sensitivity for cinema, painting and other cultural manifestations.
