COCIDO MONTH KICKS OFF WITH A BANG IN LALÍN WITH 26 RESTAURANTS, 62 PARTNER COMPANIES AND NEW PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES

· Lalín inaugurates the 28th edition of Cocido Month, which is growing in business support

· Spanish football coach Luis de la Fuente joins as a commander

Yesterday saw the official presentation of Cocido Month 2026, now in its 28th edition, which begins today in restaurants in Lalín and will continue until 14 February. All the sponsors of the Cocido Fair took part in the event, which served to recognise the joint work of public entities, private companies, hoteliers and producers in defending and promoting our most emblematic celebration. Cocido Month is thus consolidated as one of the great drivers of gastronomic and tourist promotion in the municipality.

This year, 26 restaurants are participating, with an average price of 37 euros and a capacity of approximately 150 people per establishment. Most require advance booking, given the high demand for the town's signature dish. In addition, 62 companies — including meat producers, cheese makers, wineries, honey producers and bakeries — are adding their image to that of Cocido Month, reinforcing the visibility of the event and contributing to its growth. The mayor of Lalín, José Crespo, thanked them all for their commitment and called for the utmost care to be taken with the product and its preparation, reminding them that ‘the future of our Fair lies in what we sow today’.

During the presentation, the calendar of promotional activities for the 58th Cocido Fair was also announced, which will include events in Oviedo, Madrid Fusión and the Centro Superior de Hostelería de Galicia in Santiago de Compostela. In addition, at the request of the president of the organisation, who is a native of Lalín, the Fair will also be presented at the Casa Galicia in New York, reinforcing the international profile of Cocido and the role of Lalín as a gastronomic capital.

Another notable announcement was the addition of Spanish football coach Luis de la Fuente to the list of Cocido commanders, a distinction he will receive on the day of the Fair alongside the other honourees at this year's event. The ceremony also served to launch the distribution of the Cocido pin, designed by José María Barreiro, author of this year's poster, a piece that is expected to be in high demand among visitors.

With this start, Lalín kicks off a Month of Cocido that combines tradition, gastronomy and promotion abroad, and which is shaping up to be one of the most comprehensive and participatory editions in recent years. The Town Council encourages residents and visitors to enjoy a programme that celebrates collective identity and pride of belonging through one of the most renowned dishes of Galician cuisine.
