The web report ‘O Sabor da Afouteza’ won the award for the best academic work dedicated to gastronomy for its great journalistic work and quality.
The jury also agreed to give a special mention to the work carried out by TVG over the last 40 years in favour of Galician gastronomy.
Both awards will be presented at the Gala del Cocido, which will be broadcast by TVG from the Lalín Arena on Friday, 21 February.
The writer and columnist Alfredo Conde won, by unanimous decision of the jury, the XXXI ‘Álvaro Cunqueiro’ National Gastronomic Journalism Award, promoted by the City Council of Lalín in collaboration with the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the University of Santiago de Compostela, the Galician gastronomic associations and the Galician Tourism Agency (Xunta de Galicia) and recognised as the most important gastronomic journalism award in Spain with a prize of 4,000 euros.
Alfredo Conde Cid was elected winner of the XXXI Álvaro Cunqueiro National Gastronomic Journalism Award, by unanimous decision of the jury, for his gastronomic journalistic work ‘E se voara...’ which stands out ‘for the quality of the article in which he combines a deep knowledge of Lalín and the cuisine of Lalín’ of this writer in his capacity as an article writer, according to the jury's considerations. It should be noted that Alfredo Conde had been the town crier of the ‘Feria del Cocido’ in 1994.
‘E se voara...’ was selected from among the 19 works that competed for this nomination in all categories (books, works, publications or research on gastronomy, journalistic works broadcast on radio and television, websites with content dedicated to gastronomy or graphic works published in the media).
This was agreed by the members of the jury in their deliberation which took place today in the Town Hall of Lalín. A jury, chaired by the Mayor of Lalín, José Crespo, and which was integrated by outstanding journalists such as Martín Fernández Vizoso, Alberto Barciela Castro, Belén Xestal Ares, María José Imia Vázquez (representing the Tourism Agency of Galicia), as well as the vice-dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the USC, Alba Silva Rodríguez, and in which also participated the councillor of Tourism of the City Council, Avelino Souto Rozados and Manuel Vilariño Blanco as secretary of the jury.
The jury also chose as winner of the academic work, endowed with 1,000 euros, the one presented by Olivia Castro Menéndez, Teo Martínez de Lorenzo, Alba García Villanueva, Nerea Rodríguez Vázquez and Ignacio Fernández Blanco, groups of students of 3rd year of Journalism of the USC, for their web report entitled ‘O Sabor da Afouteza’ for its great journalistic quality and for its quality in the elaboration of the arguments, in the graphic treatment and in the development of the same’, in the words of the jury.
The jury also decided to give a special mention to the work carried out by TVG over the last 40 years in favour of Galician gastronomy.
The prizes will be awarded on Friday 21 February at the Gala del Cocido, which will be broadcast by TVG from the Lalín Arena.
